Happy birthday Parler Français

On Wednesday June 8th, over a hundred learners, volunteers, partners and friends of the association gathered in the Agora room at the Fabrique du lien social Christiane Faure to celebrate Parler Français’s 20th anniversary.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of the association, the participants shared an emotionally rich occasion, punctuated by personal accounts, songs, poems and chance encounters. Many learners took the floor to recount their journeys, their discovery of the French language and the importance to them of the support provided by the association. These testimonies, often deeply moving, served as a reminder of just how much learning French is a key driver for gaining independence, forging social ties and finding one’s place in society.

One of the most memorable moments of the celebration was undoubtedly the birthday song sung in many languages, reflecting the cultural diversity that is the hallmark of Parler Français. It was a symbolic way of highlighting that the association is, above all, a place for people from very different backgrounds to meet, exchange ideas and share experiences.

The presence of Ms Nathalie Deau, Deputy Mayor of La Rochelle, also highlighted the municipality’s recognition of the importance it attaches to the work carried out over the past twenty years by the volunteers and partners who keep the association alive.

This anniversary celebration was a moment of shared joy, but also a tremendous source of motivation for all those who volunteer their time for the charity. Seeing so many people come together, hearing their stories and reflecting on how far we have come together is the greatest reward for these twenty years of commitment and solidarity.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this anniversary such a great success!
